Announcement on Amendments to the Rules for Sellers Based in the US, Italy, Japan, and South Korea

Dear Alibaba.com Global Gold Suppliers,

Based on the mission of Global Gold Suppliers providing advantaged or differentiated supply, the Star Rating on Alibaba.com will fully consider the advantages of each country and gradually establish systems that adapt to individual countries in the long term.

Star Rating rules on Alibaba.com for Global Gold Supplier based in US, Italy, Japan, and South Korea were revised on December 20, 2021, and will take effect on December 27, 2021.

A comparison between the previous rules and the revised rules is as follows:

Previous rules

Revised Rules

Article 4 Evaluation Model

Every GGS will be evaluated based on three (3) capabilities i.e. “product capability”, “service capability” and “marketing capability” and the star rating for each of the capabilities will be measured according to their respective indicator(s). There are an aggregate of six (6) indicators: (a) the “product capability” is measured by two (2) indicators i.e. (i) number of premium products; and (ii) top and super products; (b) the “service capability” is measured by one (1) indicator i.e. store response time; and (c) the “marketing capability” is measured by three (3) indicators i.e. number of active buyers, conversion rate and number of visitors from KWA. Each indicator has 5 levels (represented by star rating: 5 stars being the highest and 1 star being the lowest).

The lowest indicator rating amongst the six (6) indicators will determine the overall star rating of the GGS. In order for a GGS to advance to a higher star rating, all six (6) indicators of the GGS must achieve a minimum of the corresponding star rating. Besides, sellers with a cumulative penalty score of 36 or two or more serious infringement, will show an "unhealthy" risk status and be unable to achieve Star Supplier status until it returns to "healthy."

Article 4 Evaluation Model

Every GGS will be evaluated based on three (3) capabilities i.e. “product capability,” “service capability,” and “marketing capability,” and the Star Rating for each capability will be measured according to their respective indicator(s). There is an aggregate of five (5) indicators: (a) the “product capability” is measured by two (2) indicators i.e. (i) the number of premium products; and (ii) top and super products; (b) “service capability” is measured by one (1) indicator i.e. store response time; and (c) “marketing capability” is measured by two (2) indicators i.e. number of active buyers and conversion rate.

Each indicator has five (5) levels (represented by a Star Rating, with 5 stars being the highest and 1 star being the lowest).

The lowest indicator rating amongst the five (5) indicators will determine the overall Star Rating of the GGS. For a GGS to advance to a higher Star Rating, all five (5) indicators of the GGS must achieve a minimum of the corresponding Star Rating, and Marketing Traffic Index is a bonus indicator which indicates a supplier’s ability to obtain traffic through active marketing tools over the past 30 days. In addition, sellers with a cumulative penalty score of 36 or those with two or more serious infringements will show an "unhealthy" risk status and be unable to achieve Star Supplier status until it returns to "healthy."

Thank you for your continued support.

Yours sincerely,

The Alibaba.com Team
