Announcement on Strengthening Controls over Indecent Language Violations on Alibaba.com
Dear Alibaba.com members,
Alibaba.com prohibits the listing and sale of products that contain pornographic, violent, and vulgar information and/or images. Recently, it came to our attention that some members have been repeatedly violating such rules by listing and selling the aforementioned non-compliant products. Therefore, we formulate the following rules to strengthen the controls over such violations:
Any member listing any product that contains, as determined by Alibaba.com, pornographic, violent, vulgar, insulting, discriminatory, or other indecent information and/or images shall be subject to the penalty of 1 point deduction per violation. Previously, before this new rule takes effect, 0.5 points were deducted for each violation.
Violations include but are not limited to product information and/or images containing words such as fuck, suck dick, and their respective variants, and product listings containing other pornographic, violent, vulgar, insulting, discriminatory, or other indecent information and/or images.
For more information about product release rules, see [Interpretation of Enforcement Actions for Displaying Prohibited and Controlled Items] Alibaba.com Adult Products Category.
All members are requested to check their products and remove all the products violating the aforementioned rule. Alibaba.com will enforce such aforementioned rule and issue penalties on the non-compliant products commencing on December 1, 2020. The penalties will include but are not limited to removing products and/or deducting points. For those who have refused to make rectifications despite repeated admonition, have violated the rules repeatedly, have been inquired or criticized by regulators and/or denounced by key media, or have committed other serious violations as determined by Alibaba.com, Alibaba.com will take corresponding measures according to the severity of the violations in its discretion, including without limitation removing product listing, deducting points, restricting access on Alibaba.com, and/or freezing or terminating the relevant account(s).
Thank you for your understanding and support.
