Alibaba.com's Notice on Prohibition of COVID-19-related Information and Content



Dear Alibaba.com members, 

To ensure operation of the platform adheres to applicable laws and market regulation requirements of different countries, Alibaba.com has decided to ban the posting and sale of any products with descriptions containing the word "COVID-19", “Coronavirus” or implied meanings related to the virus or its treatment from the date of this notice. This notice will take effect on March 22, 2020.

Upon the effective date as noted above, Alibaba.com members shall not post, use or release any text containing the word "COVID-19" or “Coronavirus” in any language, or text, photos, or videos which may contain the variants, acronyms, abbreviations, and/or code names of COVID-19 on any webpages of the platform; such as the product information pages (including but not limited to product titles, rules, attributes, photos, and detailed descriptions), store information (including but not limited to banners, company introductions, and contact methods), and self-developed sales channels. In addition, members shall not claim that their products can detect, prevent, treat, cure, or enhance immune responses to the COVID-19 in any text, photos, or videos for their products or stores.

We hope all Alibaba.com members will cooperate with us, take the initiative to conduct a self-check, and remove all content containing the aforementioned information. Alibaba.com will delist any products infringing the above requirements. For members who refuse to make timely rectifications despite repeated warnings, have committed repeated violations, have been criticized by regulators or denounced by the media, or have committed other serious violations, Alibaba.com will take corresponding measures according to the severity of the violation. These shall include, but not be limited to, removing product information, blocking stores from being viewed, restricting members' access to product-related functions, and freezing or termination of members’ accounts.
