Impact of Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) on Your Alibaba.com Order

Although the recent 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak has caused significant disruption to the global supply chain, suppliers in China are focused on resuming their normal business operations as quickly as possible.  During this time, we highly recommend that buyers maintain close communication with sellers to work together in achieving the best outcomes for all parties.

Below are some answers to frequently asked questions. For production- and delivery-related queries of recently placed orders, buyers are advised to contact their suppliers directly for updates.

FAQ:

1. How will my order be impacted by the recent 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak?

As each supplier is different, your order will not necessarily be affected.  For the latest order updates, we advise that you contact your supplier directly.

2. Will logistics be affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19)??

The main event that caused logistics delays in early February was the annual Chinese Lunar New Year holiday. Logistics arrangements have gradually resumed after the holiday in most locations. However, delays are expected to continue in Wuhan, Hubei Province. Additionally, selected factories and logistics companies outside of Hubei Province have also suspended work as a precaution to help keep workers healthy. Authorities are taking strict measures on this public health event, and we are also paying close attention to the situation. Because every supplier is different, you are advised to contact your supplier to inquire about your specific order details and possible delays.

3. Should I be concerned of the risk of contracting the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) from a package or products shipping from China?

According to the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), "currently there is no evidence to support transmission of COVID-19 associated with imported goods and there have not been any cases of COVID-19 in the United States associated with imported goods."  You can read more about this, and other frequently asked questions answered by the CDC here. In addition, World Health Organization (WHO) has stated that: "It is safe.  People receiving packages from China are not at risk of contracting the new coronavirus."  (sourced from Twitter, Feb. 1, 2020)

4. Can I cancel my order from China due to the coronavirus (COVID-19)? ?

If you have a situation where the order has not shipped by the previously stated or agreed shipment date, we advise you to contact the supplier for an alternate solution to meet your sourcing needs.
